The Problem = Gate Access

The frustration and inconvenience most farmers and lifestyle block owners have is opening or shutting gates. The FGO can automatically either open or close your gate.

There are no motors, no external power supplies, no specialised trades people required just DIY. It is a clever spring loaded mechanism and specialized lock system that is easy to install!

There is no other gate operator on the market like it and it is patent pending.

Built tough. Works every time

The Farm Gate Operator uses a clever spring-loaded mechanism – no motor, no delicate gears, no fuss. It opens or closes in around 6 seconds and needs zero maintenance as long as your gate swings freely.

Runs on 5 watts of solar

No mains power, no power lines, no electrician. The included solar charging unit keeps the FGO running wherever the sun shines on your farm – far more efficient than a motorised alternative.

An ingenious solution

Colin Smith spent decades automating gates for others. He wanted something simpler, tougher, and far more affordable than anything on the market. The FGO is the result – practical engineering from someone who’s lived the problem.

Why Farmers Love The FGO

Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

No motors. No apps. No ongoing costs. Just solid NZ engineering that works day in, day out.

FGO vs motorised

Why pay $3,500 for a gate operator?

Motorised alternatives automate both directions, but the trade-offs are significant.

The Secure Lock

The FGO includes a specialised lock with a shrouded manual release. It is simple to operate with one finger, but the shroud prevents livestock (particularly inquisitive cattle) from accidentally tripping it. Your gate stays closed when it should be closed.

No keys required for the manual release.

Maintenance

The FGO requires minimal maintenance, as long as the gate itself is undamaged and swings freely. The spring tension is adjustable if needed, but there are no motors to service, and no technician to call.
